About

In the 1970s and 80s, it was a cherished tradition for working-class families from the North West of England to spend their summer holidays along the North Wales coast.

Coming from a large, close-knit family—typical of the time—Dad (Tony) was the middle of five children, raised by Eileen (Mam) and Grandad Bob. From the early 70s through to the late 80s, the family owned caravans on various sites in Towyn, creating a place that would become a true home from home.

I spent many of my childhood school holidays there, and those summers are filled with some of my happiest memories. Days were spent on the sandy beaches, in the arcades playing penny pushers, the Kentucky Derby machines, or bingo boards, at the funfair, or being dragged around the bustling local markets.

Late afternoons meant heading back to the caravan for food before getting dressed up in our best “clobber” and heading out again. Evenings were spent in family-friendly pubs and clubs, enjoying entertainment for all ages—bingo for the adults, pop and crisps for us kids, and of course a few drinks for the grown-ups. Nights often ended with a visit to the chippy on the way “home.”

Towyn wasn’t just a holiday destination—it was a place filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.

When Dad passed away in September 2024, he had just enjoyed his final holiday in a caravan in Towyn. Losing him left a huge hole in my life, and so I decided to use some of the money he left me to create something lasting—a tribute to the place he loved so much, and the memories we shared there.
